This year, our inspiration for the Harvest Service was the song ‘Our Wonderful World’ by Louis Armstrong.
Each class showed work linked to the song. Oak Class showed their sensory rainbows and sang ‘I can sing a rainbow.’
Oak Class children and other children who are new to the school received a blessing from Reverened Larkey, our vicar.
We made magical potions using different herbs and flowers. We used some of our senses to describe our potions.
The children made healthy fruit smoothies today. They cut up fruit using knives and used their senses to explore and describe the smoothies.
We are making Christmas Cards for you to buy.
We celebrated Roald Dahl Day today. We dressed up as a book character from one of Roald Dahl’s books.
Our class book was The Giraffe and the Pelly and Me. We painted the three main characters in the book. We also made Wanted Posters for Cobra who was also a character in the story. He was the thief who stole the jewellery and was caught by the giraffe, monkey and pelly.
We painted rainbows today! A rainbow appeared in the sky in The story of Noah. We added different materials in the paint to give us a variety of textures. We are exploring our sense of touch.
Miss Dexter, who is our crossing patrol lady visited us this morning. We looked at her uniform and lollipop stick. We talked about crossing the road safely. We know we have to hold an adult’s hand when we cross the road. We walk on the pavement, with the adult on the outside. We wait for Miss Dexter to tell us it’s safe to cross the road. We never run across the road.
Everyone will get a high visibility jacket on Thursday. These need to be worn on the journeys to and from school.
Today, we listened to the story of Noah from the Bible and it out. Mrs Partis was Noah and Mrs Bethel was Mrs Noah. We were the animals who went into the arc two by two. We also learnt a song about Noah and his animals.
The children enjoyed their first morning in Oak Class. They settled down to a variety of activities and are learning new routines.
